We went to the second doctors appointment yesterday and she put the doppler (a device that amplifies sound) on my belly and we could hear Pukie's heart beating. It was a good strong 165 bpm. Completely normal. My weight is down again (total of 6 lbs pre-pregnancy weight). That doesn't sound like a lot, but that puts me at 107 lbs! I haven't weighed that since high school. The doctor basically said eat whatever high calorie foods I want, and by next appointment I should have gained 4 pounds (that's 1 pound per week, or 500 extra calories per day). Mike says he is going to make me smoothies and get me milk shakes. It's not that I am worried to gain weight (well maybe a little even though I know that is what is suppose to happen) I just have no appetite and I don't call him Pukie for nothing. Oh by the way, Mike had to weigh himself at the doctors as well. He is working out a lot.
How your baby's growing:
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. My baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if I prod my abdomen, my baby will squirm in response, although I won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.
How I am feeling:
Still nauseated and puking a least 5-8 times per week. Low back pain. No appetite. More tired. Hopefully this all will be ending soon. New belly picture today, yay!!
I can't believe I am under 200 days now.
